Sensations are the language (the words) of our bodies.

They are how our bodies communicate with us.

Paying attention to our body’s sensations allows us to interact with it in a way that is gentle, non-invasive, and that promotes an increased sense of ease and wellbeing.

Our bodies are always communicating with us whether we are aware of it or not.

They are constantly letting us know what is going on with them:

"I’m hungry, I’m full, I’m hot, cold, thirsty, in pain"… Sometimes the messages are very clear “That hurts!” Sometimes, they are quite subtle.

An easy way to begin communicating with your body is to make it a daily practice to tune into the following 7 Senses:

👉Sight (Vision)- What am I seeing with both my inner and outer vision?

👉Hearing (Auditory) What words or sounds are standing out to me?

Smell (Olfactory) What do I smell? Name it out loud.

👉Taste (Gustatory) What do I taste, at this moment?

👉Touch (Tactile) How does this feel to my skin?

👉Vestibular (Movement) What movement does my body want to do right now?

👉Proprioception(Body Position) Where am I, in relation to the world around me?

You can even take this a step further and ask your body every day, with an open heart: "What do you need from me today?"

And listen with no agenda, open to all the ways your body wishes to answer that question. It can be through a sensation, a sound, an inner voice, an emotion, or any of the above senses.

Start to invite your body to be part of the conversation, every day, as you begin to trust it more and more.

It's a practice, so go slow. You're building a whole new relationship, which takes time, trust, and patience.
