Did you know that your unconscious mind reads what you avoid as dangerous?

Also known as the “primal mind,” it doesn’t know the difference between you avoiding a difficult conversation with your partner, and you being chased by a tiger.

When we actively avoid facing our fears and discomforts, it can often lead to compounding unconscious beliefs that consciously we know (logically) aren’t dangerous. 99% of what we avoid in life, is from traumas stored in the unconscious mind that we can’t even access most of the time.

So next time you find yourself avoiding something you “logically” know is harmless, consider taking one small action to challenge that belief and move towards it. Take baby steps, so as not to overwhelm your nervous system and re-traumatize...but gently begin introducing conscious, embodied action to re-wire your belief around this certain trigger.

Experience is everything—we need to give our bodies and minds the chance to experience something new and different on our path to healing.
