Personal Empowerment Practice
Feb 29, 2024While emotions can sometimes be an indicator of what sounds need our attention, they can also be a “trick” that leads us down an old thinking pattern, or victim identity that is not serving us.
Here's a 3-step process to personal empowerment:
Step 1:
Practice naming the emotion out loud as they arise. Example: “I am experiencing the sensation of anger at this moment.”
Step 2:
Separate the emotion from the actual circumstance that is occurring. Try to not associate the emotion with your external circumstance, because likely the wound was already there—but the external circumstance is simply “touching” or poking that wound (not causing it).
Step 3:
Get curious about it, which is more expansive. Ask yourself “What might be a new perspective I can take in this moment that I haven’t considered before?”
Empower yourself.
